I'll skip the travelling part, because its BORING. Ok, so we arrived at the camp site, saw the High Elements part and went "Woah!" I was literally bouncing in the seat of the bus because I was so darn excited. Entered the action room later on and it was really cold, I was ok with the cold since I love the cold environment, but as I looked around, I think I was among the few people that enjoyed the cold. People were having their hands tucked into their backs and more shirts, shivering their asses off. It was such a joy, I feel so evil now. But all was good when the instructor came, he is a French and his accent was really strong, but even with the strong accent you can really hear the Singlish in it. So it was like having a Singaporean speak with a French accent, it was really interesting to hear something like this. All the students were laughing so much! It was a great start^^
Started off with the high elements, and I was really exhilarated, but the whole prospect of having go up the high elements, it was so much fun. The pulley system at our station kept getting stuck though and it was really irrtating because we would have finished it much faster without the ridiculous hiccup in the system. But we still had enough time to go on another station and we raced through the ropes, now that is excitement. Well not as fast as Steven though, he ran across the log in 4 seconds flat (Good Job!) and of course who can forget the conversation ON the high elements itself, two girls, both called Vivian were on the high elements opposite each other, and guess what? They managed to converse in their own language (It doesnt have a name yet but right now its just known as "Vivian") Well anyway, both were up there and both were screaming to each other and its not just random screaming, they took turns to scream and so it really really seemed like they were conversing with each other. That was THE best part.
Next up, the low elements. People were not as fearful here, but it was still challenging. Learnt something new here though, find loopholes to exploit in life. We were told not to have 2 people walking on the line at any one time, which means that we COULD have more than one person ON the line. Yea, so after that was pointed out, we stood on the line and just ferry each other across. Thinking out of the box and playing WITH the rules, its not my style but I guess its what the real world demands so yea, loopholes for the win! Whalewatch was a much better game, all of us were suppose to sit on this one plank and balance the plank for however long we can. And after much planning, we managed to complete it in 2 minutes and 30 seconds, which is quite an accomplishment if you ask me, thank you very much. But then comes the hard part, we have to keep completely still, flies were walking all over my hands and its not just the normal houseflies that we see and swat every now and then. Those flies had oranged coloured butts, it was rather intriguing really, first time I have seen flies with orange butts. Well anyway, ants were crawling, flies were erm....flying and sweat was dripping. Nobody moved a muscle (well except for the heart and intercostal muscles that are a must to sustain life). It was so much fun not moving, talking and singing the Spongebob song eventually, yes the SPONGEBOB THEME SONG! Oh and I manged to get up from a sitting postion without tilting the balance. But it took me quite some time to rise up. They told me to stand up slowly, but they didnt expect me to come up that slowly. Haha. But then...comes the LOW wall. I emphasise LOW wall because it was over 3 metres high, which isnt that low if you are a mere 1.50m person. So lets see now, trying to get everyone over the darn wall, think everyone played this game before. And once again, I am at the bottom boosting everyone up the wall, try having 40 people stepping on your legs and then having you needing to push their asses up the wall. It was fun, it was enjoyable, but I came back with a bruised leg. And some of them, honestly, they just wont stand up on our legs. When the guys pushed them to the maximum height that they could reach, some people chose to squat on the legs. Stop and imagine this, now is it possible for the people right at the top of the wall to grab a sqatting person? NO! And I ate a lot of sand too. But it was really fun. Lots of laughs. The last guy though, I must comment that he is persistent. After going up I had to lean over half my body over the wall to reach out to him. He jumped and jumped and jumped again, we scratched each other one too many times and got cuts but still we tried. Eventually, we had to use a girl's (Li Wen) pants as as rope to hoist him up to the wall. YAY us for completing the thing. And boy was it tiring. But all of us returned to lunch with smiles on our faces.
Hoho. The GPS system during the...Amazing Race....was rather screwed up because it lagged so much. When we ran this way, we overshot and back tracked and then we back tracked too fast. Honestly, they need to invest in newer and faster ones. Nothing much to say here, only the fact that Buzz Aldrin is the second person on the moon and Faraday was probably not a famous writer. We ran from one end of the camp to the other over and over again. We didnt manage to finish the game though, that was the depressing part. But we had fun, thats for sure.
Thats about it for the Resilience Camp, I just dozed off the moment I got home. It was THAT tiring and the only thing that can compare with the fatigue, is the satisfaction that I got out of it.
